Just think about all the products that we would not have if we ran off everyone willing to work on them.
"Sorry Rick, there is already 4.44 and 4.77 gears, we don't NEED 4.57."
"Don't worry Lucid. The stereo sounds fine the way it is."
MacGyver, Modifry, Kodakan_4, Luder94.......
Etc, etc, etc.

I hope you reconsider on the R&D, We are a proud bunch and as much as I love my shifter tranny feel I still believe there is room for improvement - Different strokes for different folks ya know
I think it just gives us more options, I run the Voodoo knob because I wanted shorter throws but it isn't my favorite knob just one on the lowest and was the only thing at the time that was available. I didn't think anyone would buy my camera bracket or single cap but they do,
If you make 50 you will sell 50 just don't expect it to happen overnight.
I highly respect the opinions of some of the people that have posted on this thread and ask their advice on a regular basis but there is a huge segment that would buy this product just as another mod to add to their list on the show circuit, Myself I am looking forward to trying a short throw on the track with my new engine and gearing - I am looking for an ideal setup that works for me and this just gives me more options. Good luck with your product.

3 days he's been a member and he's been beeotch slapped. Sounds to me like he's running about average. Like everyone said if its good then show it off at one of our meets. Make a few deals with the highly influental of the board and then it'll sell. I like the stock one but maybe if I actually saw/felt/used anouther I might like it better.
Good luck
Good luck

My only question is who declared the S2k the standard to go by?
The answer is 'S2000 owners'. As we own the car and you're looking to change it of course it makes sense that the S2000 shifter is the yard stick by which to judge your product.
I mean, if you said you're going to produce a product that is better than the 350Z shifter that could well be a step backwards.
We're a fairly jaded lot. We've seen a lot of products pop up that are overpriced and under perform. Whereas I encourage innovation and effort the other half of the equation is keeping the audience interested and you won't do it with comments like that?

Give me your feedback.
Any other thoughts?
Any other thoughts?
Let's have a run down of what's happened here:RP - Asked for feedback and our thoughts.
us - Gave him our feedback and our thoughts. As far as I can see, everyone spoke their minds. Noone was outright rude. No name-calling. No cussing or swearing.
RP - Didn't like some of the feedback and thoughts and got a bit "stand-offish".
us - We reacted accordingly.
RP - Realized how he came across and APOLOGIZED!
me - I ACCEPT! (Can't speak for others.)
RP - Decides it's not worth it to make a production run.
us - Trying to change his mind and give him a bit of a nudge to do it anyway.
The only person who thinks this is "running off", is YOU!
This is what it would have looked like IF we were "running him off":
Your product stinks. It's a real stupid idea. Nobody will buy it. Get a brain!
Oh, and this would have been a dead give-away:
GET LOST! GO AWAY! DON'T COME BACK! WE ARE RUNNING YOU OFF!

In fact, Richard did the smart thing. He asked first before making hundreds of these things, THEN coming here with a vendor's ticket and discovered he could only sell a couple dozen. Even though he SOLD OUT to the RX owners, he didn't take for granted that it would repeat here. Sounds like good business sense to me.
Richard, don't let our comments deter you from taking stock of the situation. Use your own intuition and business savvy to decide what to do next.
Richard, if you're still interested, you might want to put out a couple sample ones and hand them out to a couple mods, like Xviper. If you can change his mind, then you might be able to sell a lot of them...

Good GAWD, may I remind you of Richard's first post:

My take is different than yours. Doesn't make yours right and mine wrong.
I read it more like:
He asked for imput and some here scoffed at the notion that an improvment could be made possible.
He compared the S2k's shifter to a racing gearbox as a suggestion of how it could be made better.
People over reacted to the comment thinking that he was insulting the stock shifter.
He politely apologized, then decided not to do any R&D on the S2000.
He compared the S2000's shifter hardware to the RX8's and said it's sloppy stuff. While I agree the RX8's shift action is a bit on the sloppy side (not bad, but not great), it feels NOTHING like the S2000's shift action, so while I think his design could do wonders for the RX8, it probably wouldn't be a significant change with the S2000. They may look the same, but I've felt both and they are not even close. That said, you have to ask yourself, "How short of a throw do I want?". I mean I suppose you can get it down to a half inch if you really wanted to, but after a while, I think it gets to be a bit much.
