Okay...

Stay the **** away from the DISI. It is awful in terms of reliability, and the design is just plain stupid. People have blown up their STOCK motors from just taking a long trip. Apparently, according to some research by PT-Performance, the PCV lets oil through willy nilly into the intake at 3000rpms or so, causing massive detonation and eventually engine failure.

3000rpms is highway cruising at 70mph.

It's a POS motor. I got out of the whole DISI game for that reason. Don't jump in. Turbo is nice, but you're better off sticking to the Si.
There you go. Regardless of what the SI bashers say, for the price the SI is a great practical car, and it can redline to 8k while being bullet proof reliable.
All for $20k......

For the money the Si is a good value. Nobody can argue that the Si isn't cheap. But I still wouldn't accept a low powered FWD for hauling passengers or driving in snow. For 20k I'd rather have a used WRX or Evo than a new Si.

I have to add that 0-60 in just under 7 seconds is slow by 2010 sport coupe standards.

The 1993 Honda Prelude did that with the H22A1 18 years ago.

but its Honda. They wont build anything more than a 4-cylinder and they'll leave turbo charging to the after market. So FWIW, and considering there is no Prelude (only an Accord Coupe), the Si is the best NEW Honda one can buy.

Agreed... as long as you do your homework, a used WRX/STi/Evo will be really reliable but offer so much more than an Si.

Also, the Si is still DBW and has goofy rev-hang!

Man I remember being so excited about all Hondas sporty cars around 2000 before I could afford a car over $3,000.

in the year 2000 we had:

1. Acura Integra GSR
2. Acura Integra Type R
3. Civic Si coupe in Electron Blue Pearl (best looking Si IMHO)
4. Honda Prelude base and Type SH
5. Honda Accord V6 Coupe (My ex GF had one, nice car back then)
6. Newly released S2000!
7. NSX

Now we just get a 200 hp Civic Si. Woohoo, Honda.

The Si is a superior car in every way that been described when compared to the RSX-S.

The Accord v6 lays the smack down on the Si. The Accord is a much better DD and isn't an econobox trying to be a sports car.

Having said that, I love driving my gf's FA1 and my friends FG2 w/ SC on stage 2 w/ a stock motor and a reflashed ecu which is over 300 and reliable as balls.

My panties don't get wound up in any road condition.. but then again, I live on So Cal.

Glad we could get together as a group and argue our opinions.
