C3

We offered you the spot and you turned it down - I guess so that you could throw it in the CLub's face for all eternity.

I'm confused on what the $650 is in your numbers above???

C3 - you claim that you asked for "nothing." That hardly appears to be the case. You obviously expected something and now you sound pissed off that you didn't get.

Does that mean that sponsors or organizations that give you free stuff will be in your good graces and those that don't will get blasted?

Brad, you didn't answer the question:

Just curious, did the guy the Fiero pay? How about Rylan (ie. S2KI) who promoted, arranged for instructors and helped organize the event pay? Did the instructors (many of which weren't even driving S2000s) pay? How many ACTUAL cars were there on the track vs how many ACTUALLY paid the entry fee?

The answer to your questions can be found in the posts above.

An experienced event planner with some marketing experience would have likely thought of inviting folks that could help further the cause of S2KCA (ie Cthree), but the S2KCA leadership is not an experienced group. They are a passionate group with an agenda that they feel will benefit the S2000 community. They are not the best at communicating, may have come across as arrogant and even somewhat defiant at times, but their intentions have always been good. They successfully pulled of S2K Days 01 in Ashville, partially due to timing, partially due to luck, and partially due to alot of hard work. They also were able to get Laguna Seca on their first try...an amazing feat for a first year club.

If I were running the LS event, inviting Cthree and co would have been at the top of my priority list given the exposure S2ki has given S2KCA. If the free web hosting etc is also true, then S2KCA should definitely have thought of it, even as a goodwill gesture. But I guess not everyone is brought up, taught & learn to value sharing goodwill.

What is unfortunate is that regardless of what S2KCA can admit, they have succeeded in helping divide this community through their method of communicating. Somewhat blinded by their vision of an S2000 community, S2KCA seems to have dismissed many critics suggestions for improvement and have alienated some of the most passionate folks in our community. Much of the S2000 community on S2KI, have not joined S2KCA because they do not see the benefit. Many I have talked to get more of a benefit from being on this board and feeling the sense of community. I believe that S2KCA and S2KI, despite their differences, need each other to grow the community for everyone's benefit.

S2KCA is a good endeavor, founded and guided by some passionate, though sometimes insentitive, folks that DO care about this community. They are only human though and have faults like you and me. They just need to be careful of what they post in a public forum, as what we write here can be construed and misconstrued so easily. I hope they will be more cautious in whatt hey post, but at the same time improve the level of communications with the community so that they truly can be leaders in the community, not just S2KCA.

S2KI has also done some things that have come across wrong. Cthree's insistance that the board is his and therefore what he says goes is an example of such. Even though the statement is true, making the statement only lowers him to the level of some of the lower elements on the board. I know Cthree puts up with a lot of crap before he finally replies to those things and I respect that, but I say all this in hopes that he, and the S2ki folks will resist such temptation and not put themselves in the kind of bad light that S2KCA folks have managed to do.

This is not meant to be a personal attack on anyone forementioned, only a statement of observation . I have met most of these folks and they are great people that I would like to consider, and keep, as friends. I just hope that these observations will help everyone focus back on the community, and not nitpick our differences.

Instructors were free for the day. That was their payment for their services.

I just dug up the actual conversation where C3 TOLD us that he was going for free - it's good reading.

And he threatened the Club with a $750/month charge for our forum.

Let us not forget that Greg and I - the two who organized the entire event only got to drive the track for about 3 laps apiece. Boy, we got screwed, didn't we?

I guess everything is about money. People can't just do things for the good of the community. Heck, Greg and I even paid to attend the Asheville event. We just don't know how to get all this free stuff that C3 thinks that he is entitled to.

Excuse me, cthree?? And what exactly is that statement based (that I don't know what I'm talking about). How do you know what I know and what I don't know. And moreover, do you not understand a rhetorical question? My statement was simply a commentary on yours. Perhaps you should reread it - nowhere in there did I say you were getting anything free. This issue though isn't new with you and surfaced in a thread not related to s2kca not too long ago. I'm sure you'll remember the one where you potential biases were questioned when someone complained about a former sponsor? I had absolutely nothing to do with that thread and never even commented on it but you relationships with sponsors was called into question there.

But really, keep on posting about this. It's doing wonders for your image.
