The S2KCA is dead. I'd suggest that anyone who doesn't think so, go hang out over there until it becomes completely apparent. As of now, there is no viable S2000 Owners Association. That's why I started the thread about what makes a good club. It is meant to be a roadmap for whoever comes next. Let's hope they don't repeat the mistakes of the past.

Sad that the self-appointed board (who were subsequently elected [along with some quality leaders] in what can only be seen as a second chance based on effort rather than results) didn't get the hint but, face it, they didn't.

They still believe that the organization's problems stem from the laziness of the membership. Don't believe me, go read some posts over there.

If one leads -- and leads effectively, openly, and with respect -- people will follow. This lesson was never learned during the life of the club.

PS. To those members of the board who privately contacted me: Thanks and I feel your pain. You have the right stuff. You just got there too late.

Meat: Several times I've asked directly whether fee-included memberships had the same benefits and each time the question has been ducked. As has often been the case, I now find out by accident that they don't. Was it ever disclosed to people who were told that registration included membership that it was some sort of limited membership? What else don't they get. Where is this limited membership indicated in the bylaws?

Sad about the club. I'd love to be wrong.

DaveZ -

My "agenda" here is that I would like to see a good strong national organization for s2k owners. However, we don't have that - in fact we have nothing close to it. I've stated before that I think s2kca and s2ki both need each other. They both can offer things to one another but the leadership can quite seem to get past their own personal differences. Instead, there is all of this fighting which is doing more harm than good. As for my continued participation in this thread, I think that the administrators of the thread should be held to a higher standard - although if not that they should at least follow their own rules. (something else I've voiced my opinion about before). But they don't - what's wrong with calling them on it? And, when I'm peronally attacked, I will certainly respond.

What fee included memberships? The ones from Asheville? It was communicated that each Asheville participant received a 1-year membership. They got all the benefits of a regular member.

on a side note, we must ALL be under-employed if we are taking part in this "discussion" during this work day...

By the way DaveZ, as a final note, I do believe that s2kca should leave this site (voluntarily). Their continued presence on this site is doing more harm for both organziations that good. There is too much bad blood between the two organizations for them to get past. If they leave the site, a lot of the unnecessary infighting and choosing sides will be eliminated. Just my opinion.

Whether my opinion is important or not here is to be seen, but I want to hop in and share something with those defending S2KCA and cthree (particularly those saying S2KCA is trying to reach more audiences than S2ki)......

I have been on S2ki for almost 100 days, and spent about 3 hours a day minimum on this site for almost everyday up until now. I know practically nothing about S2KCA or what it does, I went to the site and there were about 4 posts, and they were mostly badmouthing s2ki.com (maybe its because you have to join to view the posts ). I have no interest in finding out anything further about them now that I see most of their supporters and directors are sounding too wrapped up in money, something I feel cthree never has been. His sponsor fees are VERY reasonable for what you get, and I don't see cthree being so concerned with the democracy of the group that it focuses all of its time on how to run the organization, rather than actually just doing it.

We all come together because we love our cars, this bickering and council meetings and such seem to have ruined the whole reason we come together, maybe we should all start thinking about that...
