Sad to say I am going boost
Might want to pm jwfisher, he made the same change (from an '01), and regrets it. I rode in his 400+ hp Cobra, and it was fast but not as fun as the S2000 IMO. I know he's been interesting in getting an '04 S2000.
I agree w/ others that boosting the S2000 is a better solution...it'll boost the fun factor considerably, and you don't have to give up the cars' other great qualities.
Also, keep in mind that you'll get HAMMERED w/ resale on the Cobra w/ the much improved, much prettier new generation coming out...and your fast ride will soon look even more dated.

I just want to say thank you to everybody that has commented on this thread. It is funny how everyone say just boost the S but see that is not why I am doing this or at least looking into it. There is no doubt in the back of my mind that the S is one of the best buys if not the best buy in the world!
This is the thing. My Grandfather retired from Ford after 50 years yes 50 years so we get a unbelievable discount.
I have not seen what they are willing to give me on trade I know that it is not going to be much but remember I don't have to sell if I don't want to. I can always but it up on ebay, local paper, autotrader. So it isn't a must. I guess what I am trying to say is that I have always had a thing for Detroit Muscle it was kind of born in the blood for my family. My brother who is only 15 has hes fully restored 66 mustang and I just remember all of the good times I had in my 3 stangs 97 blown cobra, 2000 V6 (turbo charged),and my favorite of all my 2001 Saleen 281. I just love the sound and the smile I get from hearing and getting up in the power band of a V8!
So tomorrow I am going to see what I can get the car for and what I will get with trade. If my payments can stay the same than I am all over it. Insurance is only going up $148 every 6 months so.....
Now don't get me wrong I have thought over and over about boosting the honda but no matter what the torque just will never be there.
Chris S: its funny how you should say that the new mustang is prettier yes kind of.... I say this because the company's orginal design was gorgeous, but they took away some of the charater of the orginal design. Which leaves me not as impressed as I was when I got to see it face to face at the detriot auto show. Plus this will be a collectors Item since it is the last cobra that will be on this chassis. Even better is what the fastest production mustang Ford has ever built and being a limited edition corba makes it that much better.
Just my opinions here. So don't shoot!

I agree with you 100% ALWAYSINVTECH. There is no better sound than that of the mustang IMO. Personally I don't think you would be happy SC'ing or Turboing the S. Like you say, if the torque isn't there, it just isn't the same. Figures how I get the S in Oct '01, and then a year later all these nice cars come out, such as the new Cobra-(personal favorite), 350Z, EVO, STi.....
well also to comment on resale value, they are actually not that bad. I had a 94 cobra, that was wrecked in the front which I had fixed with a 100k miles. i ended up selling her for about 10grand. I payed 12k for it 4 years prior. Cobras unlike other mustangs tend to hold there value pretty well, due to there limited production. I say if you have the muscle car bug you should do it, however do it in a way where you won't be hurt financially. I think the handling wont be the same as an s2k, but the power ohh my. Just an option, if you like american muscle and the handling of an S2k, look into a Z06. They are pretty potent cars as well.

well i am sure they handle as well as am s2k, but the feel is definetly different. The s2k feels more precise. and the weight makes a big difference. i think cobras are close to 3500lbs correct me if i am wrong.
