Service Engine Light came ON
I was driving today and all the sudden I saw the Service Engine Light came on. It was like for a second and then it turned off. I slowed down, just to see if it would come back on and nothing.....I drove home, about 10 miles after the incident, and nothing. I parked my car, checked all fluids....coolant tank was empty....do you guys think this may have been the problem??? BTW the temp gauge was registering normal when the light came on....so I did not overheated my baby...
Please advice....Thanks

was it cel or maitnance light? Probably time for an oil change there
If not then use search and look up how to rest the light. Very easy. I think you put key in and keep pressing one of the buttons for 10 seconds. I haven't done it for awhile so someone explain please

If it was the "MAINT REQUIR'D" light, then your car has simply reached the pre-set distance since the light was reset last. Some people use this as a reminder to do the next service. Many people go by their own schedule. If this was it, then it will begin to blink each time you start the car. After another set amount of miles, the light will stay on solid till you reset it.
If it was the "Malfunction Indicator Light" (aka Check Engine Light), then it could have been a sensor that was momentarily out of range. Don't worry about this till it comes on solid, then go get the code pulled.
PS. Your owner's manual should tell you what these lights are for.

There's probably still a history code which you can pull, but you'll need more than just a code reader - an enhanced scan tool. The code isn't fully erased until the vehicle has gone through X driving cycles without failing again.
