Okay...from pontiac's website:

"experience a hi-revving 2.4 liter Ecotec engine that delivers 177 hp and 166 lb-ft of torque"

Not exactly a screamer, but faster than a Miata...
That is a shameful amount of power from such a large engine. I imagine it will benefit greatly from simple bolt on breathing modifications, a little head work, and an ECU reprogramming.

As for being faster than a Miata, at 2800lbs, I doubt it.

put performance aside for now,

if they can deliver $20k + good looks + decent quality/reliablity = it will be a blockbuster.

most already agree that price & look are there...the key is the quality and reliablility...

i like this car to sell a LOT!
so people can realize how finer of a car S2000 is.

If this car (even though it's a pontiac) can cause people to fall in love with roadsters, then we might see the s2000 gain huge amounts of respect among the common driver. I guess this theory is based on the way that many people i know who entered into the sport car realm with mustangs/ camaros, soon had their eye on a corvette or viper.

Is it just me, or does it look like Pontiac is taking some styling cues from TVR?

Good Look
Good softop look up, great smooth look down
Decent interior look, makes the car look much more expensive.
......

Dislikes:
Pontiac reliability!
Power...mebbe a factory super will make it more worth while.
Handling at .90 G's is not overly impressive.
Did I mention being a Pontiac???
Will be as common as the Miata...high sales means you'll see one in every American only-mid-life-crisis-50yr old-who-can't-afford-a-vette driveway.
Thats the firs thing that I said to myself as well. "What the hell a TVR for sell in the states then I found out it was a pontiac Driving excitement my ass!!!
Just like they completley ruined the new GTO IMO

solstice ---> boxster, 911 classic, round appeal
sky -------> s2000, z06, edge, sharp appeal
