Some questions for a friend
First off, i'm sure most of you see my username and go Alero? I do own an alero with quite a bit of stuff done to it(decent mods, i auto-x, and do bmw and porsche club track events). However, i am a s2k enthusiast, have loved the car since the first time i saw pictures of it in Car & Driver all those years ago. Anyways, my buddy just picked up a new '03 S2000, silver with the black interior, and is interested in some mods for it. Since he's real busy at work, and i'm at college doing basically nothing, he asked me to check out parts and prices for him. At this point, he's lookin to just do intake and exhaust, and possibly rims if he finds the right set for the right price. From what i've found, and please tell me what you guys think about this, here's what i think i should recomend to him, in order:
Intake:
1. Comptech Cold air intake I think this is one of the better looking, and probably better performing intakes available.
2. Spoon c.f. snorkel and filter I haven't seen prices on these parts, but would assume (please correct me if i'm wrong) about 200 bucks for the duct and filter. Also, if anyone would recomend these pieces over a full cold air setup, please let me know
3. PRM Intake Just as a third alternative. I don't recall seeing anyone on here having this, but it was in the s2k marketplace, so i figured it was at least decent.
I also looked at the mugen intake, which is far more than he's looking to spend. Also saw one from AEM, but that would be my last choice due to being in cleveland and inclimate weather being fairly common.
Exhaust:
1. Spugen Exhaust: from snooping around the forum, this seems to be the most popular amongst you guys. Price pretty good too.
2. Borla: I love borla exhausts, my dad has them on a couple of his cars, they sound great.
Anyways, sorry about the long post, but i'm doin this as a favor to him in hopes he'll let me drive it some time. Thanks for any help you guys can give me as to what to tell him

There are a number of us that have the PRM intake.

A decent intake is probably the only worthwhile mod for the money if you are truly after improved performance. Those that have added an exhaust and headers have usually lost power, or only gained a slight amount. Doesn't really seem worthwhile for the $1,000+ it's going to cost.
When I'm ready to make my S2K faster, I'll go with a supercharger.
Other than that, the only thing I'd recommend is maybe some wheel/tire/suspension/brake components if more performance is what you're after.
But, if you just want to look cool or sound cool, then sure, go ahead and blow your load on an I/H/E.
