Took my car in to have the dealer put on my new S02's, and I asked if they had gotten the plugs in yet, and they replied.. yesterday!

So, they did it while I was there. Never did get the new tires on tho, they had a piece of junk to change them on, and the service tech said he didn't want to scratch them.

Time to go elsewhere to get them mounted!

Let me see if I am understanding this right! When and if we get the TSB letter we can take the car to a dealer and have the problem fixed free of charge?

Damn, one more thing to worry about!

That's the concensus around the board, ITR. Letters for folks stateside should be arriving soon. Sounds like some dealerships are willing to do the work in advance of the letter (if they've gotten the kits).

Best wishes.

Just took my car in today for servicing. Got the new plugs too. They finally made it to Hawaii this week. I did not get any letter in the mail, I just asked for it to be done.

It'd be good if they treated this as a recall, but, if they are, it hasn't made it to the AHM web site. Honda's definition of recall usually implies a safety concern, so I'm not sure Santa Monica's info is accurate, wanabe.

In any case, it does seem like many dealerships are being proactive about replacing the plugs. I've haven't heard of any letters being received yet by customers in the US tho.

Bottom line, such a simple and cheap service can save some engines. I'm gratified that common sense seems to be prevailing.

Recall? Interesting; he's the first to announce it. Hummmm. Different size plug? Interesting; he's the first to announce it. Hummmm. Please let us know what size plug they installed -- that would be interesting too.

I can *somewhat* confirm that it is indeed a recall. I'm looking at the service invoice from yesterday's work, and for the spark plug it reads:
[QUOTE]D SPARK PULG RECALL
CAUSE: X

I'm not so sure it's a different "size" of plug. I put the two side by side and they look like the same size to me. The only things different in size are the crush rings. The new one is much thinner.
