Good point, XV. Hey, I just received my letter too!!! Just as Aimee posted! If no one gets to it before me, I'll definitely post pix when I have it done in a few weeks (waiting for my first oil change interval).

I just wanna say that the old timers who've been involved with this (i.e., suffered the unfortunate consequences of spark plug damage) should be very gratified to see this finally start happening. As a new owner, I had hoped that AHM would come through, and it looks like they are doing the right thing...

Yes, we need to see the plug, but AHM is indeed treating this like a recall and that's what we had hoped for. I'm sure this is in part due to the s2ki community. Thank you, folks.

We have yet to see any mention of the oiler bolts which s2ki folks have seen in Ronald's posting earlier this summer. As many have said, it would be a mixed blessing for AHM to go forward with this because of the invasiveness of the repair and the lack of dealer trust.

Anyway, I'm really happy to see this letter in my mailbox, and I'll be very happy not to be paranoid about my plugs coming loose on my (almost) new car.

Best wishes.

Hey MyBad, folks,

Just so people have the opportunity to learn from other folks' mistakes.... I suggest loosening the hex bolts on the cover before driving to the dealer for this service. Dogman (Canada) had his cover butchered by a dealer who didn't know how to remove them and ended up stripping them. The bolts get softer and perhaps a little tighter when the engine heats up, and unfamiliar technicians can strip the bolts. If you haven't taken the cover off before, XV posted something on this in his oil change 101 thread.

Maybe if you loosen the bolts a bit you'll avoid a mishap at the dealer.

Best wishes (again)

Apexi, it looks like they were sent out in a bulk mailing. Many reports today. Aimee was first to poster about receiving hers over the weekend. The mad rush is on Take care.
