In hot and humid conditions, your bogging will increase at low rpms. You won't notice any performance loss at high speeds (common with most short ram intakes) so unless you live in a climate noted above or street race at every opportunity, you'll probably like the sound more than you miss the 1-2hp you're losing off a stop light.

Is this the vertical separator piece in the middle of the housing? Someone who has tried this, do you keep the sound of having the lid off (when you put the lid back on but hack the separator out?

Seems this would be the best of both worlds for those of us that don't particularly care to get a CAI at the moment. Far as I can tell the S is so highly tuned you really aren't going to get THAT much increase by only adding the CAI alone (butt dyno'd) It's more for the cool factor, I personally get that from the sound coming out of the hood.

I took my lid off in the dead of summer a few months ago and noticed a power drop so I put it back on. Now that the outside temp has cooled I've taken it back off (I like the extra bit of growl at WOT) and feel no performance loss. I wouldn't go so far as to say I can feel a gain.
