how about if u were to remove the lid and make a heat shield around the filter?? would that help?? it would almost be something like a k&n fipk2. heres some pics of what i did.

 

cbringS2k, that doesn't look too bad. Do you plan on closing in all around the filter? How did you know how high to make the shield?

 

at first i had it high enough to were it would hit the hood. then i would keep trimming untill it cleared. im not sure about closing it all around. probably adding another piece in back of the filter.

 

I was bored this afternoon and I took the airbox lid off. I gotta say.. I was scared! But it sounded good, and I want a CAI now but don't got the money since I gotta save up for black friday and the shopping season.

 

Look at page 27 in the "AUT radiator colling plate and CAI" thread in the Sponsor Group Buys section of this forum for pics and a full description of what I think is a very functional CAI for less than 200 bucks! Now it does not increase entake sound. In fact, it decreases it. But it does double the cool air intake area while stopped, and adds ram air at speed, and IMO goes like a boat out of Hell for only $200.
