Think I got screwed...
Rebuilt title? that's even worse..
From my knowlegdge. All rebuilt title comes from cars that were totalled and sold at insurance auction and then some person buys it at very cheap price and fixes it.
Then DMV will inspect the "rebuild"(fixed) car and issue rebuilt title.
I totalled my old A4 about 2 years ago and that's what I saw at CarFax.
I hope everything works out ok too
good luck

I'm sorry to hear about your dilema. Please remember that if you took an S2000 and slashed the top, stole the seats, door panels, interior carpet, and wheels, but never damaged the drivetrain or paint, this could be totaled by an insurance company. The seats from Honda are extremely expensive. If someone bought this car at an auction and put new seats in it, they would have a salvaged title but it's not due to an accident. This could be the case in your car.
This was a HUGE scam around here a few years ago (and probably still going on) the bad guys steal a car. They don't damage anything but remove the seats, wheels, door panels, etc. The insurance company totals the car and sells it at auction. The bad guys go back and buy the "totaled" car, and put all the stuff back in it. Presto, salvaged title on an otherwise perfect car that can be sold a a huge profit. This is probably not the case for you, but it could explain the circumstances behind your title. Sad but true!

Don't remember what you said about how long ago you bought the car but CARFAX does have a guarantee. This is what I found at their site.

Man,
He straight dicked you over man. Don't let him play his bull sht. You know damn well before you sell a car, you go and research it and find out what its worth, either by KBB or ask someone to appraise it at a dealer or something. Obviously he knew he was trying to pull something over your head by asking the normal price of 1 that is selling with out that tittle. I know my friend here in FL bought a car with a reassigned VIN, and it was a big deal. There was also a pink sticker in the driver doorwell that you could not miss that stated it was a FL reassigned VIN. Get a Lawyer man. He he was a friend, he would have made it a better point. That is something you would have not forgot. Damn I would be pissed.
Good luck man!
Dave
