Top-Down gets attention... but is it always good?
OP seems like your a well rounded person but it also seems like its easy to get under your skin. One pointer for you is always be the bigger person and not waste your time with narrow headed people especially on the road. It's far too easy for a dumb ass person to pull a stunt nowadays especially if they are looking to impress someone like the other drivers girlfriend.
I'm not black, no.
I didn't take it as a racist remark either. The dude just drove by with a "hey I'm the stuff" type of attitude and tone. I just don't like when people try to belittle me in public to try and look better, much less when I'm just driving around in a calm manner.
Same as when I work on my car in the parking lot on base. A lot of guys look at me and make comments, try and look at what the motor looks like, talk smack about how their -insert car- could smoke me, etc. I think it's mainly because they know I don't street race that they do this though.
Maybe this area just has a higher concentration of dumb-dumbs.

I never had anyone insult me for driving with the top down, even at cold weather (50 degrees and up). That's because everytime i have the top down all they see is my stethoscope hanging on my rear view mirror. It shows how education and hard work can get you great things. Mind you i'm only 28yrs old and the questions i get are "What kind of a doctor are you" or "arent ya little young to be a doctor?"....Oh by the way, the best response for an insult is always a "smile"...nothing pisses off an ignorant person more than that.

People like the VR6 guy do it out of insecurity. Unfortunately it roped you in and exposed your insecurity, too.
Imagine if a 5 year old rode up on a bicycle and said your car was girly. Would you drive after him and call him out?
If a 90-year old in a Buick told you to slow down, would you charge up to his window and chew him out?
If you had a Bugatti Veyron at home and a condo full of supermodels waiting for you, would you care what the VR6 guy said? Nope.
But you took the bait and got in a pissyfest.
C'mon. You're better than that. Next time, smile and wave. And pity the poor loser, don't join him.

^ what base and which service?
I appreciate the advice on calming down. Trust me I've been trying to be less confrontational. In the Navy though, it's sort of hard to turn the other cheek to things unless you want that person to continue to dump on you for the rest of your time at that command. I guess it's more of an instinct now a days.
If it makes everyone feel better. I'll remember this thread the next time I get upset over something insignificant. Lord knows I could use less stress.
