I'm confused - why buy a vented hood if you're going to block off the vent?

it looks kool hahaha. I thought of the same thing and just having a vented hood for a 100 more is much more appealing. 4IG hoods

I like the looks of the Vented Hood it has nothing to do with cooling of the motor or anything for me (ie stock isnt vented) As you can see in the pic I posted above, even with the vent covered it doesnt look that bad. Most people dont even notice its covered until I tell them it is. I will try to get some pix of the underside so you guys have a better idea of what I did.

Don't worry about a vented hood, as long as you get one that is compatable with your intake.

I have the Veilside hood. When I had the factory intake in the car I was never concerned about water getting into the intake because of the positioning of the vents. I never had a problem. Eventually I got the Speedcraft turbo kit and started to get concerned, check out the intake.

I drove through insane thunderstorms on the way home from a meet in Wilmington, NC last year and my engine bay was bone dry when I got home.

Hood Vents

You can see marks on my STB that show where the vents sit when the hood is closed.

Even with the exposed intake I haven't had any problems. I just cover it with a plastic bag when I wash the car.
