I wave and get waves back, most of the time...doesn't seem to matter about age, AP, or anything else. Sometimes, one of us might be involved in driving and not notice the wave because we're already gone.

I went to Chipotle and noticed that someone a few tables away had the same burrito as me. I waved, but he gave me a dirty look. What a jerk! You think he would have been pleased or impressed to see that someone else was enjoying the very same burrito!
You probably had mods - xtra sour cream or guacamole. He was just jealous that you would get indigestion before he did.

When I'm drivin I usually wave or give a thumbs up if i have the top down. If the top is up i try to get the window down for the thumbs up and i honk if i cant get that in time. I almost always get a honk or wave back. The only time I specifically remember not gettin a reply involved some 40ish business-type woman drivin on a beautiful day with the damn top up. For some reason I just feel like every s2000 owner i see is a nice friendly person who loves their car as much as I love mine.....

I think it's great that our little community is so supportive of one another, and the headlight flashing and waving is done on this car more than any other I've witnessed.

I wanted to share my experiences with other people waving back at me, since I wave or flash any other S2000 I see on the road.

Young people definitely wave back.

Older guys with street clothes that look like they're on their Sunday drive definitely wave back.

Girls in street clothes wave back.

AP1 owners seem to wave back moreso than AP2 owners, though.

Generally the AP2s that I see are driven by your standard corporate type. The type of person that wouldn't post on s2ki.com or go to a local club meeting and would drive a Boxster just as soon as the S. The late 30s guys in suits driving silver AP2s seem to just have the car for show or something, and do not participate in the friendly . More business oriented women seem to do this also.

Has anyone else ever noticed this?

(I can't wait for all of the "hey big guy, I am 3X years old and drive a MY05 silverstone and I wave all the time to other S's!") I know there are exceptions, this is just over a larger sample.
im gonna have to and AGREE with you there. most ap2 drivers bought the car for the wrong reasons. sure the s2000 looks hot, but its a lot more than that and unfortunately any tool can buy one these days. good thing this car only comes in a 6-speed manual...think about all the posers that has already warded off.

I am driving to work the other day and stuck in some heavy downtown traffic and as the traffic starts to move I see a GPW parked on the side of the road with a young blonde woman in it waving at me, and so I give the friendly wave back and as I roll past she glares at me. That's when I realized she was hoping I would let her pull out and into traffic. Oops! Well, at least I waved back

You're just upset because we caught you! Start waving buddy!
Perhaps you didn't read my post carefully. As I said, I usually do wave at other S's. In fact, I wave to most people in convertibles and to a lot of other people too, but I don't require that they wave back. I don't make a distinction between AP1 or AP2 S's and seldom even notice the difference. Now, if I don't wave at you, you can be assured that either I didn't see you in your convertible, was busy with something else that prevented me from waving, or exercised my freedom of choice to not wave. You may not like the fact that people have the right to to wave or not at you, but an obligatory wave only pretends to be a gesture of friendship, while my waves are numerous and are sincere.

I think its really hilarious that not only do some AP1 owners think that their car is better, but now they also think that the drivers of AP2 owners are "sellouts" or not true owners or not true enthusiats. Will the AP1 owners start a petition next for all AP2 owners to give up their cars and buy Boxsters next?

Seriously, as an AP2 owner, I was actually worried about going to meets because I thought you guys would sell me off as a "fake" S2000 owner with an AP2. And as it stands in the Mid-Atlantic region, nobody has ever hassled me for owning an AP2, in fact a lot of AP1 owners have complimented me on the car. I guess I'm lucky I don't have to live in the same region as some of you guys (although I think RazorV3 may live around me ... I'll make sure not to wave if I see you, so you can think I'm a pompous ass )

It really irks me that some AP1 owners have this superiority complex about them that their cars are better and now that their cars are owned by better people ... I mean seriously how do YOU KNOW why I bought the car? How do you know why the majority of AP2 owners bought the car?

I already see the superiority complex coming into play with the 2006 S2000s and nobody even owns one yet. I feel sorry for the owners of the 2006 models since now you have both AP1 and AP2 owners coming down on them .. Personally I welcome any new S2000 owners. Its a great car, and its fun to drive and I hope anyone who wants to can enjoy it as well.

As I said before, regardless of model I seem to get a good share of waves back and I almost always wave to other S2000 owners.

And what does waving back have to do with whether or not you bought the car for the right reasons? Maybe I track my car every weekend but I'm a prick and I don't feel like waving back? Maybe I bought the car cuz it looks nice and I wear a suit everyday to work but I want to look cool driving a sports car ... but I do wave back?

Damn the level of stereotyping and assumptions in this thread is absurd.

As far as BMW goes, I don't get how in this day and age you can wave to another BMW owner and get a lot of waves back ... the majority of BMW owners in this area are parents, most of which could care less about the car they're driving ... they just like the badge. They don't care that someone else is driving a bimmer next to them. But I don't wave to bimmer owners, so what do I know. Maybe that mid-40s wife driving her 2 kids around does wave back in her automatic 325i

I also gotta say I think its funny that RazorV3 thinks that anyone can buy the S2000 "these days", like before it was like the Enzo and only certain people were "allowed" to buy it. Yeah in 2002, they selected you to buy your MY03 GPW S2000 ... You were one of the lucky ones before they started selling the MY04s to any old bastard like myself!

Oh I love this. AP1 owners are the 'purists' and so old school that they are too cool for school for the AP2 owners. gee I wonder why some AP2 owners don't wave. most of the AP1 drivers I see are spoiled high school/college kids that drive like assholes on the street and slap on ugly bodykits/parts for the bling factor. This is the same crap I encountered in the Subaru community.

I think we need to start our OWN club. No AP1s allowed ...

I really have no clue whats up with the "eliteness" of some of the AP1 owners. Maybe its just jealousy.

That said, there are a lot of really awesome AP1 and AP2 owners that I've met. I have love for all S2000s

Lets keep the hating reserved for Boxster/Z4/350Z owners .. Kidding of course.
