I went out to look at an old Jaguar convertible and the dealer that had it on trade was closed. I then went down the street to the Jag dealer to see about getting me one. As I was walking out I saw this car (didn't know anything about it at all) parked in the used car lot between the Jag dealer and the Honda dealer. Loved the looks, drove it, and bought it on the spot. Only later did I find out what I had...wow!! Have been having a blast with it ever since. And the car brought me to s2ki.com, which has been a blast, too!

I would have to say the looks and the performance attracted me to the car. I remember when I first saw the car at a auto show. I knew I had to have this honda. I grew out of my prelude instantly. Although I waited a few years for prices to come down to realistic levels.

I was sold on the car from info on this website before my first test drive.

WooHoo! No regrets now.

2 factors. One is the performance, VTEC makes me happy in the pants (so does the braking, cornering and everything else this car does. Two, it's a Honda. If Chrysler or Volkswagen made this car, no sale. I love Honda engineering and reliability.

It's funny that the car is so old now. When I bought it the dealers didn't let you test drive the car. Even after I put money down on it, I was only able to drive around the parking lot... slowly.... once. And I still remember the girl that worked there telling me that I would get all the ladies with it. But I digress, I got the car because I was sick of fixing the Z, it was rare as all hell, it was a convertible, and it was really great looking.

Hurricane Isabel decided to flood my '00 Prelude with 3 feet of salt water. The car was even in a garage up on jack stands to get it off the floor and it still managed to get flooded out. Anyways, my insurance gave me a check for the amount of the car and I bought an S.

I got interested in the S2000 when it was released, but knew it would work for me only as a third car. So a few years later, with a 3 car garage with an empty bay and enough $ to buy a new car I weighed the options of getting a new sedan (I have a 96 Accord with 130K+ miles) or finally getting the S. I looked at the Z4, and the boxster and after driving the 05 S, I decided the S was not only the best car. Plus, after having three Hondas before the S there was a reliability comfort level that was not going to be there for any other car, period. The better price cinched it.

I think if I had to put my finger on it, the 6-speed gear box and the shifter feel is what sticks in my mind (vs. the Boxster (5 speed) and the Z) as to what really stood out head and shoulders above the competition.

For me it was a number of things but I think nostalgia was a big part of it. My Dad drove MG's, Triumph's, and Austin Healy's when I was growing up and I always loved those cars. I've always wanted something like that but there was never anything around that worked. The Miata is close but I don't fit in it. I'm snug in the S2000 but it works for me and I couldn't be more thrilled.

I'm also a BIG fan of convertibles, probably because of my experience with the above mentioned British sports cars and the handling qualities also associated with these types of cars. In the case of the S2000, the engine is simply the icing on the cake!

Drive Safe,
Steve R.
