What made you switch to an s2000?
Ive had 3 Integras, swapped, boosted you name it
2 Nissan 240sx, s13 and s14
I needed something newer w/higher limit that didnt require tons of work therefore:
the Z was too fat thought good engine
the rx8 used too much gas though great susp. and beautiful engine
the s2000 was just right. good handling, good engine and convertible top!

Seeing the S2 piqued my interest, and actually driving the thing sealed the deal. My NFR took me almost five years to acquire (thanks grad school) but it was unequivocally worth it and I never had a doubt about it once along the way.
To answer the original question: it's the driver's driver's car with understated but confident styling, and it actually takes skill to drive well. At the same time, it's FUN AS HELL.

Had a variety of other vehicles. Current crop, 2005 Corolla (commute, long trip car) and 2005 Jeep Wrangler (fun and good for bouncing around in). Bought the 2005 S2000 as the fun car! Wanted a fun, fast convertible for So Cal and had a chance to buy a S2000 in great shape from a friend of mine. It fits the bill and is a great car for just having fun in! Haven't had another vehicle like it.
Let's see i have had to drive a 1986 Suzuki Samurai (wheelies in corners), when that would take a crap i would drive a 1975 Estate Wagon, a 1991 Chrysler Voyager, 2000 Chevy Astro, a 2000 Chevy S-10, a 2005 RSX-S (miss you), and now my S2000. I want to keep my S as long as i can and get me another like another DC5 or if possible an M3. The S is too much fun!
Odd enough, I fell in love with the specs. I hadn't drove many 'fast' cars, at the time I had a stick shift neon. My choice of car came from my two friends at the time and the only other two stick cars I drove beyond the neon.
One was a gently modded SRT-4. Very fast, very loud, pretty cool. It turned like a horse though. My other friend has a Miata. I honestly preferred the miata, taking it around turns/etc was just awesome. Not to mention the tickets you get playing with an SRT-4.
So here I was, looking towards miata, but still enjoyed the power of an srt-4. My dilemma was that I wanted some push, but was completely unwilling to give any handling for it. I was thinking towards getting an MX-5 and then turboing it later, but I didn't want to copy my friend's car. If I want to drive an MX-5, he'd let me take it out ANY day and vice-versa. So I wanted to add something new.
After looking in to cars for a long time, I wound up falling in love with the specs/reviews of the S2K. Spent a long time looking for them without ever driving one. The first time I actually got behind one it didn't even phase me that I was driving it for the first time. It was EXACTLY what I'd been expecting. I wound up buying the 2nd or 3rd on I looked at.

In 1991 I bought a 87 CRX Si and loved it. Traded it in for the next Honda 2 seater which was a 93 del Sol Si. Drove that for 2 years and traded it in on a 95 del sol VTEC. Info about the S2000 started rolling out 2+ in like 1997 (SSM) and I set my mind on the S2000 at that time and latched onto every word that came out. 1 year before it came out I was ttrying to get on waiting lists and I got one with $500 down. the day it came out in the USA (and since they were dropped at our port, we had them first) in late August 1999 I called up on my S2000 and they told me I couldn't have one of the 2 that came in... they were "taken". I was pretty pissed off. I called all the Honda dealers and found one that had 2 in and hadn't taken any kind of list (well.. they were probably jacking their list) and I paid $5K over msrp ($32,000 + $5000) for it and drove it off the lot in the morning. Funny thing, they were still so popular and rare here (waiting lists) that a year later I sold it for the 2001 with 10K miles on if for OVER SMRP ($34,000)
People were so freaked out at seeing the S2000 on the road that they were screaming at me from cars, running to the corner to see it and almost wrecking. I'm not exaggerating this, it was crazy like this at every intersection for the first 6 months.

I'm new to this forum. My wife just bought me an S2000 for my 40th birthday this past week. She found a yellow 2002 with only 2350 miles! It was purchased originally by a friend of ours and put in storage soon after he bought it due to unforseen medical problems. He was sad to sell it, but happy that it was going to a good home.
I've been itching to get an S2000 for a couple of years now. I started competitive driving with racing a Miata in SCCA events in the mid 1990's. I eventually switched over to Corvettes in 2001 and most recently drove a 2006 Lotus Elise for a 3 years.
The thing I love about the S2000 is that it beautifully combines the economical reliability of the Miata, the comfort of the Corvette, and the driving excitement and exceptional handling of the Lotus in one car.
I really am impressed with the S2000, but I have one significant regret - I wish I would have gotten one many years ago. Then again, if I hadn't gone through my costly Lotus phase, I might not appreciate the S2000 as much as I do.
Looking forward to seeing you all on the forums.
