What's a boosted AP1 like to drive compared to an Evo?
ASS2000 series trailer.
ASS2000
These guys are out of Toronto and rescued a mistreated S2000 (AP1) a year or so ago and turned it into a legitimate track car that's still drive-able on the street. Ontario winters have caused the project to pause but I believe their current goal with the car is to break the lap record at Toronto Motorports Park. They have an unofficial sub-1:20 lap and are shooting for a sub 1:18 lap. TMP is a highly technical course with few high speed areas.
They're doing this with a catalytic converter and withOUT forced induction at present! Hardly "horribly slow."
Not an inexpensive project though!

I daily a X and the S gets taken out a few times a week (ap1). Owning these two cars is the best of both worlds in my opinion. When people ask me what I like most, my hat goes off to the S. It's raw and I really don't ever think the S is underpowered. My evo is RRE tuned at a tad over 300whp and I never exit the S thinking it's slow. I recommend keeping your evo as a fun time track car/project and getting an S. Just too much fun.
Hey guys, I'm back!
I did the only logical thing for a person in my position. Instead of selling the Evo, I sold my daily driver Civic and bought a 2001 S2000. It's a bit of a basket, but heck, here we are. It's stock with the exception of an HKS exhaust (brraaapppp), around 99k miles and has a funny smell coming from either the clutch or the brakes. It needs new tires (it has a date with Costco for some RE71Rs), an alignment and a once-over. It'll all get sorted, but I'm already loving this.

I used to have a 95 Eclipse GSX back in the days running about 25lbs of boost daily for about 5 years. It was fun to race but boring to drive if that makes any sense. I currently have an NA ap2 and its definitely slower that my 4G63 in a straight line but much more engaging and rewarding. My s2k at 50mph feels like my eclipse at 100mph lol its just much more fun and doesn't have to be taken to its limit to make you smile while the mitsu has to be pushed hard to in order to get your attention. That's just me
