I don't think this car is big enough to have a person and a set of balls big enough to go as fast as some are saying. I would have to hear form some of the track whores about the top stock speeds...........

There is a member named Wesmaster that hit 169/170 (indicated) with his SC'd S2000. He said that's what 6th gear topped out at hitting the rev limiter in 6th.

With stock-sized tires the calculated top speed at 9000 rpm in 6th is 165, period. Frankly, I don't see what all the argument is about. If you can redline in 6th gear then you hit 165. Personally, I have hit "148", or whatever ~8000 rpm is in 6th (I was paying more attention to the road, er track, to be sure exactly what the RPM was. I could see how a few mods to up top end HP could get the car to redline.

Hey Spoon, did you allow for tire growth in your formula for top speed???

I was just going to say that myself. Your formula would be a bit off, since tires expand when speed increases, especially at such a high speed.

Arrgh!! Back to the drawing board. Actually I was getting the top speed from the faq (166.5 mph by the way, not 165)

https://www.s2ki.com/article/articleview/15/1/31/

As stiff as the sidewalls are I wouldn't think they would expand too much though.

Just out of curiosity, can anyone explain how a speedometer's error % can *change* as the speed increases? I can understand the 00-01 S2000's 4% speedo error: 52 on speedo means 50, 104 on speedo means 100, 158 on speedo means 150, 165 on speedo means 158. But that all goes in the trashbin if the speedo error % changes. ?
I am trying to find where I found that tid bit of information..I'll keep looking
