Why do you drive an S2000?
My older sister (like 14 years older) had gotten one as her engagement gift the year it was released. Looked the same as mine except it had all black interior. From the moment I saw that car I knew I wanted it. I was like 12-13 then.
First car I bought was the 7th gen celica, I only got it because I knew I wasn't ready for something like the s2k as my first car and I liked the look of the celica.
After lusting after the s for years and always watching them as I saw them on the road I finally got the go ahead from my parents (note: i pay for all my own stuff, always have when it comes to cars especially, they are just my "common sense" mediators in the matter). Spent 8 months finding one in my area that had the red/black interior.
Now even though I am 21 and will likely need a different, more practical car down the line, I still plan to keep the s until she is paid off and have her for the rest of my life. After the first decade they were crowned kings, after the second, I imagine they will be at "legend" status right up there with the MKIV supra and such.
Just like the celica, I always liked cars that were just a little bit unique, something the average joe could not identify without seeing a badge (and in the case of the s, doing a double take on the Honda part). With only 60k ever made, and only about 6k in my color combination, I know that I am driving a collectors item. 6,000 sounds like a lot until you see that Honda sells that many accords in less than a month.

I had a Honda motorcycle while in college. I really wanted a Triumph but the Honda was all that I could afford. I was really impressed with the quality of the bike. Compared to my friends bikes (Harleys and English bikes like Triumphs, Nortons and BSAs) my Honda was built like a watch. Unfortunately, as a result of some woman not looking where she was going, I spent two weeks in the hospital and that was the end of my motorcycling days.
When I graduated I bought my first sports car, a brand new 1972 MGB. It was a fun car and still ranks as one of my favorite cars of all time. The B was followed by a Triumph TR-6, a Fiat x-1/9 and a 1952 MG-TD.
Sometime in the late 1970s I moved into Manhattan and could only afford to garage 1 car so I had to get rid of my TD. By the early 1980's I was married and my wife and I decided that we had to have something more reliable than a Fiat. Thinking back, most anything was more reliable than English or Italian sports cars. We decided to trade the x-1/9 on a 1982 Honda Accord.
A number of Accords followed, each one being better and more reliable than the one that came before it. I was sold on Honda quality and reliability. By 1994 we'd moved to New Jersey and I started longing for another sports car.
I looked at the Miata, and was ready to buy one, but something held me back. I kept thinking that if Honda would only come out with a two seat, convertible sports car, I'd buy it. I had looked at the CRX in the 1980s and really liked it, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted. My vision of a sports car was typically the British type of sports car, two seats, convertible top and rear wheel drive.
In late 2001 I was at a client when one of the sales people called me out into the lot to take a look at his new 2000 S2000. It was love at first sight. I knew I had to have one.
Within a few months I went to my local Honda dealer and started to negotiate. It was now June of 2002. The only S2000 he had in stock was a Suzuka Blue. I couldn't decided between the Suzuka Blue and the Sebring Silver, but what held me back was that I didn't really care for the blue interior of the Suzuka. Not that there was anything wrong with it, I just didn't care for it.
A few Saturdays later I took my 9 year old son, and just on a lark we went to the Honda dealer. As we got there they were unloading a brand new Sebring Silver with a black interior from a car carrier. As it came off the ramp, I called my salesman out and told him to write up the order, that was my car. Don't even let anyone else see it, I'll pick it up Monday after you get it ready.
That Monday I picked it up, drove to my son's day camp to pick him up with it, and took it home.
I had originally thought that it was going to be my daily driver, but my wife didn't want me driving it in the ice and snow of the typical New Jersey winter, so she insisted that I keep my 4Runner for a daily driver and use the S2000 as a fun/weekend car. (The 4Runner is long gone and another Honda a 2006 Si is my daily driver. I love it almost as much as my S2000).
The S2000 has been a part of the family since that day. I intend to keep it forever. I half jokingly say that in the year 2027, when the car is 25 years old, I will show it in the production class of the Concours d'Excellence at Pebble Beach. If I'm still able to drive it, and if nothing happens to it between now and 2027, I'll see all of you at Pebble Beach and I'll dedicate my trophy to all who participate in this thread. I fully well expect to win.

I had a 97 Civic HX and when the s2k came out I fell in love. I knew that someday I would do whatever it took to make one mine. I still have the Civic as my daily, and I made the dream come true with the s last year. I'm so happy I finally have this car, I will NEVER let it go
Had various Nissans. I had a 02 Sentra Spec V with a vq35de from a maxima. It was a light weight pocket rocket (2715lbs) but sold it to buy a house. Then few years later i was in a market for a car that i can have fun with. I had my mine set on a S4 or an evo 9. I love the speed of both just weary of the s4 reliabilty and hated the interior of the evo. So one day I saw a the AP2 S2000 on the dealer parking lot and said "what the heck". i was with my wife at the time, we test drove it for a hour and fell in love. I am use to a car with more torque and never realize i would ever get something like this. Ever since i got the S2000 i understand that everything isnt all about power but the "ride" and its fun factor is even more important.
Oh we bought the car after the test drive and had to attend my sis's birthday party after(we did all this transaction within 2 hours set foot in the dealer). Lets just say it was my birthday that day and the S2000 stole the attention of my sis party.

Man these are all great reasons!
I'm very close to getting mine...Just sold my '05 Kawasaki Ninja TODAY. It was hard seeing it go cuz it was my very first bike. Learned everything about bikes on that particular one. O well...my goal is an S2k. Always wanted one! Now to sell my truck...
