I had a situation a couple years ago, going too fast into a dip in the road, hard on the brakes and not off the brakes quick enough to let the front come up. WHACK! The car touched down, the point of impact was on the 2 front mounts for the X-brace. If it were not on the car, it could very well have taken out the oil pan, and that is just one tangable benefit.

You're talking about two different things here. He's referring to the strut tower brace that goes under the hood as being ineffective. you're thinking about the xbrace under the engine.

with the feedback on the Xbrace I have the Nuespeed because it was the cheapest and seemed very well constructed . I noticed a tighter feel to the front end but nothing too drastic.

I dont think the STB does much on the S, but I have no regrets about mine it looks good and it does give you something to put weight on when doing things under the hood

This prior thread might be of some interest to those members considering a purchase of an x-brace.

I have a stb and an x brace and neither does crap except in the handling department. My x brace serves as my oil pan shield which is more then enough for me to keep it. With my car as low as it is I love the extra protection. Its handled quite a few good whacks

Here's a pic of the Muz x-brace against a competing brand to give you an idea of gage & design.

I'd say Muz, but mostly for looks.

I have the Spoon brace and it most certainly does make the car better over bad roads. However, the Spoon brace also makes DIY oil changes the most painful event ever.
