I am glad you said this.

I was perusing another site, S2KHumanDrivers.com, and the cars posting there started a similar thread called, "Is your Human Driver a Cop Magnet?".

I happen to have some friends that could get pulled over by SWAT and half-a-dozen squads while driving a Big Wheels, and they would have deserved it.
Back in the early 70's I was stationed at SAC Headquarters in Omaha. While stationed there, I actually spent most of my time on TDY at Mildenhall England. During the break between my first and second TDY, I bought a set of cheater slicks for our 1969 SS-350 Camaro, and since I only had a few days in the states, I decided to take the car out at 3:00 AM and see how much grip I was getting with the new tires. So, I get on this road that runs past the base, a nice, empty, divided highway, and I stop, then light the tires and run up through the gears, up to about 100 MPH. The grip was amazing, and fun, so I stopped and did it again. Then again, and again. I think I had done maybe 6 or 7 hard runs when the cop appeared in my rear view mirror. To this day I do not know where the guy was hiding, but he'd been watching me for some time.

Now in this kind of situation I would generally assume that a ticket is a given. Even though I was on a totally empty four lane road where it was totally safe to do what I was doing, it was still highly illegal, and I'd been caught red handed. So, what do you do?
Me? I asked the cop how long he'd been watching me.
Then I explained that I was "testing my new tires," and that I'd normally do this kind of thing at the strip, but because of my work I was being an dumbass and doing it on public roads. Then, in uncharacteristic fashon, I asked the cop what this was going to cost me. To my surprise, he told me, "Don't worry about it," and after a little lecture, he sent me on my way, without issuing a ticket.

Now in contrast, my friend Dave, is certain that all cops are out to get him, because he's Asian, and drives a sporty car. Last time he was stopped, he gave the cop crap, and complained about how the cops always harass him. This identifies him as a trouble maker. Then, after getting a ticket for speeding, Dave lights his tires as he leaves, to let the cop know how pissed he is (), so the cop pulls him over a second time, and gives him another ticket.

I have had cops give me crap for no good reason, but it has been extremely rare (and I don't tolerate it well).

i don't care if its twin turbo'd with gt35r's... look how many wings are on the front... and the colors... that thing is ****ing ugly... i would rather have a stock s2000 with 100k miles on it than that thing... looks like honda had a retarded baby on that thing... like mixing an s2k and an evo x and a RICED out cavalier... all i'm trying to say is... you could have any motor making any amount of power... i could shit on the hood and make it look better.

Bad manners or bad taste, what's the difference.

Alacrity,

No offense man, but your ricer paint job and attitude are what has you in trouble with the law.

This is the problem with the S2000 getting older and less and less expensive. People between the ages of 16-20 can afford these cars as their first car now, and they give the S2000 a bad name.

The S2000 isn't a Honda Civic, nor is it an Acura Integra so don't treat it like it is one! These STUPID paint jobs, and cheap exhausts only make me cringe. But hey you can't blame Alacrity he's only acting "his age."

Oh wait, I bought my first S2000 at 23, and never once thought about painting it some stupid color and putting a Pep Boys exhaust on it.....Nevermind!

i know very well where i stand in the public eye with that many tickets... posted up here invites plenty of criticism and I welcome that too, it's what allows us to improve, knowing that we're wrong.

while I was getting pulled over, you guys were sailing past giggling at my misfortune, just doing what i can to take the heat, that's all...

The general consensus, besides a few lurkers, is that my car is foolishly painted with ricer parts thrown on in a haphazard fashion?

Congratulations! Seems like you've got everything figured out dontcha? I heard somewhere that arguing on the internet is like winning in the special olympics, whoever wins, you're still retarded.

Our Honda's are an expression of ourselves, a tangible, physical extension of what we want to be seen as. Guys with nice, clean rides have a style all their own while people with a few aero parts show that they appreciate a little fun too. My car, with it's ridiculous vinyls, stupid downforce canards, overzealous application of carbon fiber, and fartcan exhaust, just shows that I do things to my own code. I don't want to be passed over in a line of s2's. when you walk past a group of fresh rides, and you see my franken-s2k ugly- duckling status at the end, which car do you go and look at? And who do you talk to? All the stoic- faced guys so bent on fitting in they look unfriendly or the guy smiling like an idiot laughing at his OWN car?

I did take a long long time to learn my lesson, I also admitted that previously. After being pulled over consistently twice a week for two years, I'd say a 4 month streak with a lack of any cop- relations is commendable. I never crashed my car the entire time I was speeding, and I always used my blinker when I cut old ladies off. sheesh, gimme a break.

and nemesis. cute hamster.

Jsts22,
What color is your S2000? Makes a huge difference in the answer. And another point, were you polite? The "yes sir, no sir, how high sir" act has gotten me out of multiple tickets. My one recent ticket is 57 in a 40, but he knocked it down to 49 in a 40.

I drive a Berlina Black and have only been pulled over once in 2 years, and I drive it like I stole it.
