yep, personally, I didn't buy the S for the convertable factor. Didn't really matter to me. I do like it at times, but 75-80% of my driving is top up. I'm just that kind of guy. I bought the S2k for what it is and what it resembles.

went to honda dealer tonight to buy a civic and saw two 2005 s2000 with tops down. i noticed that their tops retract further than mine. its not much but noticeable. i have not used my toneau cover but looks like its not gonna fit properly. anyone know anything about this?
If yours is an 05 I doubt the straps have worn out yet... Were the 2 S2000s you saw AP1's? Reason I ask is because the MY00-MY01 fold down further because of the plastic window. I noticed this at a meet I went to a few months ago. It seems that they sit a few inches lower than the tops with the glass window.

I just use my hand to push the last bar back because thats what is preventing it from going down all the way
I would do this as well. As for Modifry's straps I plan on doing this once my warranty is out. I just got my top replaced and have a year warrarnty on the top from honda, and I don't want to void it. So until then I will just push the bar back manually. It usually folds fine on its own, but ever so often it dosent go all the way back.

Like I said in the post before it was probably an 00 or an 01, if your straps are already messed up then I would get your warranty to cover it, so if you to have top issues down the road you don't void it by cutting the original straps.

Also, if it's cold outside or just cool, I've noticed that the top does not like to go down all the way. If yours is only 5 months old, and hasn't gotten any better, I'd let the dealer worry about it.

Mine likes to do that when it's chilly outside, doesn't even have to be very cold. It seems to help if you give the bar that's above your head some very light encouragement on its way back with your hand.

What's so bad about the top not going all the way down? Am I missing something here? I know mine's when I first put it down, is not all the way down because after driving for a while, it'll sit down further. Please enlighten me.

I had the top down every nice day that I had my '01. Problem is that I got tired of it.

I'm sure I'll take the hardtop off some day and go for a nice top down cruise, but I haven't felt the desire to do so in a really long time.

when you guys say "all the way down' do you mean that the edge of the top is not visible if viewed from a direct side view?

I have never seen a s2000 like this. All of them have the edges sticking out of the body, correct me if I'm wrong.

The center edge, yes. The corners, no way. They will always stick up. The center edge of my '04 top sits down below the rear deck very nicely. As others have mentioned, (and most likely the prob for the OP), when new the top has not developed fold creases yet and especially when cold doesn't always sit down right away. When mine was new I found that if the top didn't go down completely, raising it a foot or so and then dropping it back down usually did the trick.
