Default 04+ centre console removal problems

Hi guys,

Just seeing if ayone out there could help. After I replaced the headunit in my 05 S- the sliding door on the centre console no longer slid back smoothly - it sort of got stuck half way. I'm not sure if by lifting the centre console up to put the radio in I bent something.

I now have an 07 S and am about to replace the headunit on this. Anyone got any ideas where I went wrong last time - I don't want to make the same mistake this time.

cheers

You could have spilled something and it ended up inside the console. I spilled coffee once and took the center plate to pieces just to wash.

I don't think so. It worked perfectly up to the point when I pulled up the centre console and then when I put it back its nice smooth action on opening was lost.

Oooooh. I know exactly what you did. It happened when I removed the cup holder to clean. The door works via a spool with a thin metal piece spun around it. When I took it off, the metal piece uncurled off the spool and remained curled, but the door didn't have an automatic effect. I pulled the string back into the spool and everything was fine. It's very simple. Nothing to worry about.
