1 to 2 grind!
hey guys, i just wanted to say i appreciate the way you guys are approaching this thread. i had too many bad experiences on H-T and how rude those
s are. funny cuz on that website they bash on s2ki.com but i dont see how they can say that. that site is full of ppl jumping on the bandwagon, you guys are a lot more polite and a LOT MORE HELPFULL. i appreciate it very much thanks. yea i noticed shifting from first to second can make it grind some and i think the grinding was liek you guys said especially viper that i kinda let go of the clutch too fast. i get what you mean by the 2 stage shifting i only have this problem in 1-2 shifts the rest i can do it very fast w/out a problem but the 1-2 is the tricky one. i guess i wasn't/aren't used to this tranny as opposed to my prelude tranny cuz the prelude i had NO problem shifting lightning fast from 1 to 2 but its a totally diff. tranny. i guess time will tell and paying more attention to see where the problem comes in whether its the tranny itself or from myself cuz this past 2 or 3 days i haven't grinded it up yet.
I did the nasty 1-2 shift grind yesterday and decided to do a search
... and found this thread. I'll have to try out the 2-stage stick movement that XV suggests.
it just breaks my heart when I hear that nasty gear grind.
fortunately it's only happened 2x in the 15,000+ miles I've driven my S. hopefully if I can just remember to hesitate slightly between 1st and 2nd, I can avoid that nasty, nasty sound.

just want to post here and say that since I've started doing XV's suggestion (slight pause between 1-2), I've had no grinds at all. the 1-2 pause is very slight; I just pull it out of 1st and come to a quick stop in the neutral position before pulling down into 2nd. you more than make up for the fraction of a second it takes in the confidence of being able to pull it into 2nd without any grinds or clunkiness whatsoever.
thanks again, XV.

I've had grinds even after the tsb. The best solutions are synchromesh friction modified tranny oil and Viper's shifting technique
