I have much experience with superglue and I think this is a bad idea. Most likely the lock mechanism will be glued as well, so the key may be glued in, but it will not work.

That is what I was afraid of.... luckily I did not try it........ I guess I am going to cut my bumper and do it the right way.

Scot,
In the USDM versions there should be an 'entrapped children' manual release located on the inside of the trunk.
Would it suffice to attach a steel wire to it with a tab and leave it hanging outside of the trunk when it is closed when you're on the track? (Similar to an emergency release handle eg.)
