Default Catalic Converter/Engine Check light

Hi everyone, hope everyone is doing great. Had a question regarding my catalic converter, i have an 07 white s2k, but 3 years ago i removed the cat and placed a test pipe instead. The cat was completely cut off so I don't have it in possession anymore. My engine check light has been on for 3 years now, which is from not having a cat on the car. However I am about to sell the car soon, and was curious to if I were to take it to a muffler shop and place an after market cat, and put the o2 sensor back in, would that fix my engine check light??? My may concern is to make the car pass smog and fix the engine check light so that I could sell the car toward the end of the year. How much would it cost to place an after market cat? Also would i need a brand new o2 sensor as well? Or getting the cat and plugging in the o2 sensor would remove the engine check? Any information would be helpful, thank you!

what do you mean the cat was cut out...is the header and stock exhaust intact? in other words COULD you bolt up a stock cat?

If your old sensor is not damaged it should work fine.

What did you do with your old cat, let the shop keep it? So much for a "cheap" mod...

Take the car to a shop, ask them, since they will have to look at what ever was done to your system in the first place - only they can tell you if a new cat can be bolted in (probably), but the O2 sensor might be gone/damaged as well, so you'll need a new one of those...

New cat, maybe a new O2 sensor, labor. All for +1 hp...

Oxygensensors.com offers them at a great price, I would definitely buy it vs the shop charging you for it.

Ya i think if i get a new cat from a muffler shop and aftermarket one it should work, my may concern is to pass smog and have the engine check go away.

They cut the cat out, instead of un bolting it, i didnt know until i came back and it was done. But yes its cut out, and they placed a test pipe instead. Im hoping the hold sensor isnt damaged. I have to take it to a shop.

1HP?? Hahahahaha you is a funny dude!! Adding a test pipe is guaranteed 5+HP. As a matter of fact I'm going to prove you wrong. I will add 60mm test pipe to my stock exhaust and DYNO before and after.
