Default Engine Checklight is on

Did anyone change their oem cat?I remove the cat and engine check light is on, is there any way to get rid of the light?plz help...

did you check the library under troubleshooting?

so, you removed the cat? or what? removing the cat will cause the light to come on.

I removed the cat, and make it straight pipe....is there any way to bypass the light?

You do know you have a O2 sensor on the cat right? If you remove the cat the sensor has no reading so yes you will get a CEL. There is a way to bypass it but I don't remember so you better start using the "search" feature of this site.

okie I will try to search for it...thanx turbo-pwr.....also I heard that there is a fake O2 sensor that I can buy....is that gonna work?

also I heard that if your engine check light is on in the car, the car will run slower because the ecu is in a safe mode....is that true?

2 things to consider from reading previous owners experience with straight pipes. Performance gain is minimal to non existent, you get really bad gas mileage, and you get the CEL.

If CEL is "flashing"; OBD-II will likely put the car into safe mode.
