Crank position sensor causing car to shut off while driving?
Well I have a 04 s2000 with the greddy turbo kit running AEM v2.
I have had this kit on for 3000 miles without any problems. Recently, the weather has been well over 90 degrees outside. In the last 1000 miles my car has shut off 3 times randomly in traffic during these 90 degree days. I'm guessing the car is getting too hot due to the recent change in weather. My temp gauge on the cluster is staying right under the 1/2 way mark so this leads me to believe that it is actually not getting too hot.
I read a thread on s2ki that leads me to believe that the crank position sensor might be going bad. Apparently this sensor gets too hot and tells the ECU that the car is overheating (when its actually not) and cuts the car off. If I wait 10-30 min to let the car cool off, the car will start up again and I can drive off.
My question is, Could it be the crank position sensor? or am I overlooking something that it could be?
I have a stock radiator / fans which is supposedly fine to use with the greddy kit. I have recently replaced the battery, and the starter. I don't think it's the alternator since my car will start back up once i wait 10-30 min.

I don't think the AEM has a failsafe that will shut the car off if a sensor reads it is getting too hot. On my friend's AP1 with a stock ECU his sensor came off and the car simply ran in limp mode.

correct its to save the engine if under boost. Haltech has the same thing.. its not due to heat its due to knock or oil starvation

The aem does not know or care what the temp of the crank sensor is. However the aem can be configured in a way that would kill the engine if it gets hot. Based on coolant temperature. Your crank sensor could also be failing and is malfunctioning under high temperature. If you are familiar with aem you can log the event to determine the cause. One parameter to look at is stat sync. If you have no sync it will not start.
