Default Cruise Control does not work

Hope this is the right section.

The cruise control does not work on my 2000 with 43K miles. I've had the car for a week and everything on the car works perfectly, besides the CC. Yeah, I missed this when I bought the car. The CC activates fine (button not on the steering wheel). When I press the set button on the wheel under 25mph, nothing happens - good. When I press the set button over 25mph, the light on the dash comes on but the car does not "cruise" or maintain speed. I haven't the slightly idea why. The car does have aftermarket speakers, but the same headunit. Any ideas or help you can give me would be great. Thanks.

I would make sure the cable is hooked up to the accuator under the hood. sounds mechanical...

Thanks for the reply. Where is the cable and accuator located? I'm not very mechanically inclined, but I'm going to try and find it.

I don't know what the exact specs from Honda are but generally speaking, cruise controls aren't designed to work at speeds much below 35 mph or so. That is doesn't work at 25 mph is probably normal.

Does it work between 45 and 70 mph?

Sorry, reread the post and you answered that. At least the over 25 part. How much over 25 have you tried it?

The thottle on the engine has two cables running to it. One is from the foot peddle and the other is from the cruise control servo. Just follow it back and you'll find it. Might be something as simple as a loose connection.

Good luck!

All the connections looked good. I have tried the CC from 35 to 60 with no luck. Maybe the little servo is bad or something else?

Throttle only has one cable. The CC servo connects directly to the gas pedal.

The black box right behind the coolant overflow tank is the CC unit Just remove the cover and check the cable.

You may have a blown CC fuse. This fuse is in the fuse box that's in the engine compartment between the battery and the air filter box.

Oops, you're absolutely right! Thanks for the correction.

I checked the cables and the connections look good. I checked the fuse and it wasn't blown. I read in another thread about a brake swtich. Maybe it's that or the CC unit is broken?
