Default Dash stereo control interface protocol

Does anyone know how the dash controls on the S2000 work?

I was considering buying a Modifry adapter for my Alpine HU, but decided I'd take a shot at building my own interface for them first (using a Raspberry Pi or Beagle board or some sort of project board with GPIO pins), however it's hard to find any information about them. Is this one of the standard steering wheel control protocols, a direct voltage, or some proprietary protocol by Honda?

Any info at all would be helpful. I know I've read about people hooking up laptops in the past, but couldn't find any threads when digging around on these forums.

It's all voltage changes for everything except the Mute which is direct power change.

If Pinky says it it must be true. Trust me Pinky is the guy who originally solved this issue. You have this answer from a true historical God in the audio world.

P.S. Great to see you are still here P-Man!,,

Awesome, thanks; that makes things easy. I'll break out my multimeter and see what I can come up with.

Thanks for the props but I am not THAT good. I had a need and solved it and shared my results. Made a couple bucks(literally a couple bucks) and "retired". Modifry and some others took it to a whole other level!

Yupp that's about it. I know we had to bridge ground and the input wire with a resistor for some reason to make the voltages read within a range that the PAC mod would read correctly because the MODE button was so different from the other buttons. Little history there for ya.

Good luck have fun and glad to see people are still interested in working on their own cars and being creative. Maybe there is hope for society after all.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for that. I'm thinking about getting a few of these TI boards (after a recommendation from one of the guys on the Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Stack Exchange chat) for the various electronic modifications I'd like to make to my car. They've got lots of GPIO pins, low power consumption, and the price is better than an Arduino; should make a nice little project board to stick under the dash. If anyone else has other recommendations though, I'd love to hear them.
