Default Diagnosing a misfire

Trying to chase down a misifre at idle. No codes, runs smooth everywhere else. You can hear it miss and sputter out the exhaust.

AP2 engine on AP1 ecu.

Tried map whack. Checked plugs. Only other things I think are next is coil packs and injectors but I don't have any spares to swap with. Anything else I can start testing/trying?

I have a set of spare AP1 coilpacks that I replaced. PM me if you want it?

Unplug one coil at a time and you’ll notice which one doesn’t get drastically worse

I had a similar 'issue' -- it only happened at idle..

I replaced pretty much everything (valve adjust, leakdown was good, replaced coils/plugs/MAP/TPS, got injectors cleaned) and then gave up.. I eventually got an EMS, ID1050x and a SC and problem is gone so I think it was either injectors or ECU

btw I think I actually got the MAP sensor from you via pizza boy

-Misfire at idle/all other areas are ok

Valve adjustment is the first step.

Thanks I'll let you know.

Yeah I've heard of this test and doing the same with the injectors. I'm leaning towards leaky injectors after reading a bunch of reports of the same issue.

I think your issue was the injectors since coilpacks didn't solve the issue. Been reading a bunch of reports of people with similar issues and having leaky injectors. Cleaning them won't resolve it as some believe the spring in the injector goes weak.

Yeah definitely going to do that on this "new to me" car. I'm going to check the fuel trims tonight with my OBDll scanner also as I've heard you can sometimes spot an injector issue from the O2 reading being rich and STFT.
