So I just noticed some light shining through my top the other day however it's not in the usual spot.

I took this image from another top tear post which has the typical tear location. My tear is behind the plastic rub guard that I circled in red. I guess at some point, the guard got caught and when the top went down it got bent. Now it's permenantly C shaped aiming at the top so the sharp edges slide along the fabric causing a nice tear.



I tried bending it back flat as shown in the photo but it's pretty stiff. Short of removing it / heating it up flat again, I'm not sure what I can do here. If I apply any kind of patch, I'm sure this will scrap it right off. Is there a way to remove this guard? It's hard to tell how it's attached.
