S2K service manual does a pretty good job at guiding you though the process. I used it to swap out to do a 06 transmission swap (except we tilted it instead of removing it). I didn't have an engine crane thing(NO CLUE WHAT'S IT'S REALLY CALLED, DON'T CARE), we just used two jacks and tilted it. To remove the whole thing I would definitely use the crane.

You don't really need a DIY, just see what needs to be removed and go for it. Expect it to take anywhere from 3-5 days more than you originally planned. My car is 12 years old and half the bolts were seized and/or rusted beyond any hope, luckily I live and work a light down from a Honda dealer than can get parts in 24 hours. That was so much pain the ass that I don't want to think about doing it ever again. I took a good month break from doing anything to my car, including giving it a bath, because of how much of a pain in the ass it was to work with.

Two weeks later I bought gearwrench ratchet tiltable ratchet wrenches and snap-on #8 (you'll want a #8) because it didn't come with the kit. I wish I went back in time and had these. Ratchet wrenches deserve their own holiday.

Do you mean 8mm?
Sucks so many of your bots were rusted! I hated working on cars when I lived in Germany for this reason. One great thing about more southern climates: FAR fewer of those!

I guess I might have to get the Camera out and start taking pictures to build a DIY! Then everyone can yell at me for what I forgot. I will be pulling the engine from the top and only putting the tranny on the ground while I swap engines.

So far I pulled the harness out the firewall, unbolted the electrical boxes and the ground. Disconnected a few of the air hoses but need to pull the radiator plug before I can take any more hoses out.

One question..........do you need to disconnect the steering column in the engine bay or can that say connected and just move the motor around it?

The steering column stays connected. FYI, You can pull the engine and trans. out together. You will need a load leveler for your engine crane to get the angle right and also take the valve cover off for clearance...
