I know it's sort of a hassle to read a whole thread, but you'll usually find your answer:

Great writeup but if cleaning the contacts still has your buttons and switch not working for the s2k dome light, there is a separate fix.
To solve the 'buttons not working' problem try loosening the right hand side gold coloured screw holding the light fixture in, as it seems to be short circuiting the switches.

Sorry to stir up an old thread but i couldn't find the fix written up anywhere else on the forum.

Old thread, but thank you OP for posting...well done. This DIY worked for me on my AP1. Used steel wool to clean the contacts.

I used a ScotchBrite pad...took less than a minute of light rubbing to clean up all the contacts.

Post still adding value. Been racking my brain for over a week now and even broke out the multimeter. Used a Q-tip and vinegar - works great. Now I just need to get some better bulbs (LED anyone?). Thanks.

Glad u were able to solve the problem. I was gonna suggest this thread but wasn't exactly sure if that was your issue. As far as LED's check out this site js2k.com

Hope this helps

I finally got around to doing this today. Great write up, my lights work great now.

I also had a problem with the door open switches, with the door open the lights wouldn't come on, if you pushed the switch a tiny bit the lights would come on. Decided to take the switches off and they were all gunked up. Gave them a quick cleaning and now they are working great. It is a little more work to get the switches out as you have to remove 3 interior panels on each side to disconnect the wires.
