I found that a lack of sufficient slack in the throttle cable will cause this fault - it is very sensitive. Also, when I ran on 95 Octane instead of 97 or 98 I had problems with erratic idle after high speed running.

As for your question, our engines are rubber mounted and so is the transmission. This makes for some movement most of the time. However, if you are truly talking about a genuine and constant vibration, then something is not right. If you have a supercharger, then such a vibration would be normal in almost all cases. Are you sure you have a "vibration"? Or is it just the stick moving as a result of torque induced motion?

it's not a tremendous vibration, but it can noticeably be felt when you hold the shifter when driving and if you aren't holding it you can visibly see the shifter shaking left to right even while in gear.

The shifter knob on my car does the same thing. It's normal. The virbration you feel is less then the amount you think it would be just looking at the shift knob in a gear...............hope you understand what I mean?
The shifter is mechancially connected to the transmission.......it isn't fly by wire so you will notice some vibration.
