Need more information. What "overheating issues" and what have you modified on the car?

Does your spedometer ever drop to zero randomly?

If your speedo drops to zero your EPS will fail and not render assistance, since assistance is speed dependant. Mine was caused by a failing/failed yellow jacket speedo calibrator I installed to adjust for my new rear end gears. I tried first the vehicle speed sensor which was not the problem, nor was it a ground issue. I now have a new Yellow Box speedo calibrator working flawlessly and no more issues with speedometer dropping to zero.

No, but you can get the code read for why the EPS light is turning on and that will lead you to the problem. Start by checking all the connectors on the steering rack.
