Exhaust smell from HFC?
Hey all,
I have noticed about a month ago that when the windows or top is down I will sometimes notice a minimal to moderate exhaust smell. I'm thinking the smell could be from my Berk HFC that was installed about 6 months ago, thoughts? I do have a small radiator leak...not sure if that could be part of the issue. The radiator (KOYO) and hoses (OEM )are being replaced this weekend.

Coolant has a sweet odor. Difficult to mistake for exhaust smell.
You have a hfc, so thinking maybe you have an aftermarket cat back. Which means its probably a bit loud. Which means maybe you wouldn't easily hear an exhaust leak. So, maybe check for that.
A hfc that is going bad often has a rotten egg smell.

So I had my front brakes replaced including rotors, calipers, and pads, as well as the new radiator installed. The majority of the smell has stopped, but I still get an occasional slight exhaust smell for a second or two at stops. I suppose I should take it to a muffler shop...it has the berk HFC and UK mod on stock exhaust. My AP1 does go through ~1 quart every 1000 to 1200 miles.

I have the Berk HFC and UK mod done on my car as well. The slight exhaust smell is normal mainly but it's mainly due to the HFC. I had the UK mod done first and it had no change from stock (smell wise).

you will get some exhaust smells in some conditions, mainly cold idle. That's the reason the HFC has a built in anti-fouler as it does not convert as well as an oem cat. Nothing to worry about though.

I have a little exhaust smell from my HFC, 2500 miles on it, things could be worse.
