Default Rattley exhaust....

Just noticed recently that my exhaust is a bit rattley like theres a gasket gone or is there any guards on the exhaust that could bit an ickle bit loose...

Ive also noticed that it tends too give off a funny smell after being driving for a while...

Anyone elses rattle or smell like this...??

is it oem?

i think there are heat shields on the manifold but i'm sure someone will clarify. is the noise from the front end? you could check if it's blowing (therefore a gasket) by holding a rag over the tips while it's running - if there's not much pressure and it makes a phut phut sound from under the car it's leaking

smelling after a run is probably something stuck to the exhaust burning..

Sounds like it could be your cat. I take it your exhaust doesn't sound like its blowing so it could be that the element in the cat has fractured. causing both the rattle and smell.

This could happen if you've had an off road excursion or IIRC rapidly cooling a very hot exhaust by driving through deep standing water.

The rattle could well point to a knackered cat, I am surprised given the age of your car, but start with the cat and work from there... a nice decat pipe should do it!

Once you've replaced the cat, you can work on the smell... no ideas on that yet!

One of the rear exhaust trim could be loose.
