Help with trickle charging
Hey guys,
As topic states I need some help with my battery. I have purchased a CTEK charger and want to begin trickle charging the battery (don't drive the car often) whilst it's in the car.
I have been told not to connect the negative connection to the battery. Is this right? Do I need to connect it to the chassis or is having both the positive and the negative on the battery fine?
Thanks

I connected both ends works fine like that. Got worried while we had some -30 c weather but the unit kept having the light green lit. No experience by plugging the negative end to the chassis however. Unit has been plugged since November.

i have the CTEK as well. Connected red connector to the battery positive, black connector went to the ground on the top/back of the intake manifold. my buddy connects his direct to the battery- he has the same charger.

Same charger here, I connect it to the battery but either way is fine.
Are you using an AGM style of battery like Optima, Braille, Oddysey ?. In case you have an AGM battery the snowflake charging setting works best with the CTEK chargers. They are great chargers BTW.
