Honda 10-30 motor oil
Has anybody used, or currently use the Honda 10-30 motor oil? I have about 1,500 more miles to go before my first oil change. I was considering using the Honda oil until I get past 10,000 miles, then switching to Mobil 1 synthetic. I realize there's probably nothing special about the oil, and I also realize it's made by Mobil for Honda. I figure since Honda more, or less recommends it, it can't be that bad. I'd be interested to hear some of your experiences using this oil, and also how many miles some of you have put on your cars using it.

I can't tell you any experiences I've had with the Honda motor oil as I've never used it in an oil change. Don't be fooled by Honda's "recommendations" to use their oil. They also recommend you to use their tranny fluid and their engine coolant. Hell, if they sold air, they'd recommend you use that in your tires. Ford will recommend fluids by FoMoCo. Chrysler will recommend Mopar fluids. In almost every case, it will cost you more to buy oil from the dealer that is marked with the manufacturer label. Like you said, it's nothing special. I'm not expecting anyone to tell you that they have miraculous experiences just because that's what they use.
If you want to fall for the company line, then go ahead and use it. It's your money. I'm not sure why you need convincing from others before you do.

I've had the honda oil in my car since I bought it, they gave me 5 free oil changes. I just went in for the sixth yesterday at a tune of $40.57! I was a little upset, b/c when the free ones were billed the price said $27.00 then comp'ed for a zero balance. Thought I was gonna pay $27.00 as well.
I hit VTEC 5-10 times a day and haven't noticed any oil burning. I sit back with the oil tech. and we measure the oil coming out. I don't trust the $10/hr. mechanics.

I had two free oil change coupons when I bought my car. I had them do it at 3.7k and 7k miles because of time limit (6 months). I changed to Mobil 1 at 10k miles, 8 months ago and plan to do once a year oil change with synthetic. Honda oil is nothing special, but it was free so I used it.
