How to clear VSA Activation Light, AKA the /!\ light
Hi All,
I'm posting this fix because I couldn't find a solution searching this board (for hours), but I found it on another Honda board. I hope this helps someone in the future.
Background: I had a massive overhaul done to my car last week. I got my clutch replaced, motor mounts replaced, valve adjustment, serpentine belt, front brake rotors/pads replaced and brake fluid flush. Once it was all said and done I had the "VSA Activation Light" permanently on and nothing else on the dash. This is the "!" inside the triangle and not the "VSA" light.
ODBII scanner said everything was ok. So, I ran through the blink codes by jumping pins 4+9 and I got DTC 84 which means "VSA Neutral Position" error. I wanted to clear the code and see if it came back, plus traction control was disabled since the system goes into failsafe mode with this error.
The official service manual (and several dead end threads here) says you need to clear this error at the dealer with a special tool. However, you can do it by the following two part procedure.
Part 1.
First you have to reset the system's computer...
1) Jump pins 4 and 9.
2) Press and hold the brake pedal while switching the ignition key to position II (on), but don't start the engine.
3) Wait for the ABS light to turn off and then remove your foot from the brake pedal.
4) Wait for the ABS light to turn on, then press and hold the brake pedal again.
5) ABS light should turn off, then remove your foot from the brake pedal.
6) Wait for two flashes of ABS light. If it flashes it means that errors are erased.
7) Turn the ignition key to the "off" position.
Part 2
Now to clear the VSA neutral position error:
Do not touch the brake pedal anymore.
1) Keep Pins 4 and 9 jumped.
2) Switch the ignition key to position II (on) again, but don't start the engine. Then after the ABS light turns off, quickly press the "VSA off" button.
3) After ABS light turns on again, quickly press the "VSA off" button again.
4) VSA and triangle should turn off. The problem's solved.
In my case, the error has not come back after a week and traction control works fine. I'm guessing the system got stupid with the flushing of the brake fluid.

Wow, excellent research. I'm sure this will help many.
Question, between part 1 and part 2, you turn off the ignition? The first step in part 2 is turn on ignition, but there was no step in part 1 where you turned it off.

My bad! Yes, you turn off the ignition at the end of step1. I fixed my original post to reflect my omission.
Thanks for posting this! I want to try this as my VSA light as been on for months now.
Background:
I purchased a suede OEM steering wheel from one of the vendors here on S2ki. I replaced the wheel and the VSA light came on immediately after. I researched long and hard and found that if the wheel is not perfectly straight or aligned, this would cause the VSA light to come on and that I would have to go to the dealer to have them clear it. I wheel was not perfectly straight and could not be b/c the notches were slightly off compared to my original. Dealer wanted to charge me $140 to clear the light and straighten out the wheel.
Well, the dealer straightened the wheel and tried to clear it but the damn VSA light kept coming back on immediately after driving. They said the steering wheel sensor has to be broken and replaced. They said its the only thing that could be causing this to happen.
I am not sure how this sensor could be bad if I was very careful when removing the steering wheel, but I want to try this procedure and see if it would help since the dealer is trying to charge me $650 to replace the sensor now.
I am very tempted to also put the original wheel back on to see if it does anything different, but I am afraid this will not work now b/c the dealer had to make adjustments to make the new wheel straight. We'll see.

The sensors on our cars are pretty delicate. I'd say see if it clears with the procedure above and then if keeps coming back, I would look into replacing the sensor or trying the old wheel.
