Immobilizer
I purchased an 01 JDM ECU for my 05. I found out after taking it to the dealer that in 05 they changed to a rolling code and therefore I can not use the ecu because it will not program to the key.
I know there are ways around this problem. One is bypassing the immobilizer. I also realize that after searching that his is not something to be discussed on an open forum.
However, I would appreciate if someone would PM me with inf on how to get around the immobilizer or any inf in how to solve this problem.
Thanks in advance......Rich

i have a question also. I have a 00 and i've heard you can get better overall gas and throttle responce with a ECU swap. Is it true?? Of so, which ones would/will work. Do i have to do the same with the immobilizer??
From my limited knowledge, here is my understanding. The first versions of the ecu, which is printed on the label. eg A01. This would indicate that the ecu is for the USA = A the 0= manual, 1= version. These were programed to run a little rich in the AF mixture. Later versions were a little leaner. As for identification I found the link below.

It is also my understanding that ecu's are interchangable between the years 00 and 04 because they have a fixed code. However, your key must be matched to the ecu and this is done by a Honda dealer. These versions have a fixed code. The 05,which I have, uses a rolling code.
Whether throttle response and fuel milage improve, I am not sure.
Hope this helps....Rich
