Default loose steering problem

Hey, i've noticed that my steering feels really loose and has some play to it compared to a friends s2k that i drove. the car is stock with only 18k miles on it and nothing was ever changed. tire pressure looks ok and it drives straight. i also noticed that when i parked on a friends sloped driveway with the wheel turned to the right is started shaking back and fourth pretty violently. any ideas on what the problem could be?

Thanks.

nope never hit anything, alignment is straight, lugs are tight. could it be the steering rack? i had someone hook up some lights under my dash and they removed the plastic around the ignition and pulled a plug but everything was put back and i dont think that would affect the steering?

There are two universal joints...the upper one may be causing that play.

There is also a ball bearing in the steering column just behind the steering wheel. That can also make the wheel feel like it has some play in it.

any way to remedy this? is it just a matter of tightening some bolts? i read about the steering coupler bolts but usually people had loose ones after they did major work to their car like engine removal and clutch changes.
