Nope, no problem at all. But no gain, so not worth the extra money.

High mileage is just a nice way of saying tired old engine. Additives to look after seals are in all engine oils, they may chuck an extra slug of it in for good measure but it is all to do with reducing consumption and leaks. Or a re-branding of an existing oil in their range that is pretty much obsolete such as a 15w-40, rather than discontinue it let "marketing" have a go*. They wont prolong the life of an engine. Look after your engine, with regular services and quality oil, shrinking seals will never be an issue.

Guy

* A great example of this is the Castrol Magnatec Stop Start oils, which has nothing to to with stop start technology. But is suitable for short stop start driving conditions such as cities, towns, taking the kids to school etc. They never changed the oil to reflect, it is just marketing to say its suitable for that kind of use because they tested it out in Mexico City.

^making my comment pretty much the only new thing anyone's ever said during an oil discussion.

And that is due to "engine dilution" which is typically higher when cars are driven most often in short start-stop trips like you described. Most Motul oils (5W-30 and higher) accommodate medium engine (fuel) dilution and once you go higher in the viscosity range they accommodate high engine dilution. I'm not sure of the Castrol Magnatec specs in that regard though my first ever semi synth oil I ran in my 2001 Corolla was Magnatec.
