Default MSD DIS - 4

Need some help guys. My customer is running AEM ems and I am connecting the msd dis-4 with 4 coils. I believe my connections are correct but I have no spark. If I manually ground the inputs I get a spark at the plug. Does this unit require the use of an amplifier? I contacted a MSD distributor and he said I need a fuel injection adapter? I'm thinking the signal is too weak. Also if I connect the stock coils with EMS the car runs but no spark on #1. Is this related? Any input would be helpful. I am setting this up for a customer and I am not very familiar with the EMS. The car was driven here with the EMS connected and working. Did I lose a calibration or setting while it was disconnected?

Yea it would scare me too. But at least he's looking for help to try to resolve this problem.

I would try posting this in the forced induction forum. I think you're FI anyways running the msd but either way they're more knowledgeable about the AEM EMS over there.

I will post in the FI forum. Thanks, some people actually are helpful and don't waste time posting BS.

It wires in the same as a AEM CDI. The plugs are even the same.

Are you trying to use this with the stock coil packs? If so, you can't because the stock coils have an igniter circuit built in. The EMS has nothing to do with the proble.

I'm not sure about the AEM system, but I have the FAST XFI system. I have to run the FAST e-Dist (electronic distributor) and the MSD DIS-4.

The XFI output is the "points" wire. This triggers the e-Dist. The e-Dist also requires a camshaft sensor input (in order to synchronize the firing order).

The e-Dist sends 4 signals to the MSD DIS-4 system. The DIS-4 outouts signals (480 volts) to the coils.

So, your system may be firing the plugs at the wrong time, causing a no start condition.

PM me if you want to discuss further.
