Default Mystery hole on engine top

I'm almost afraid to ask this, but my mind just can't stay at ease.
I was cleaning my engine bay and notice there is an open threaded hole which seem like it is meant for a bolt to go into. It is located on the top of the engine in the corner closest to the passenger. Is there something that is suppose to be there?

No nothing is used there. There is one on the valvecover and one on the block, not sure which one your are referring to.

Here is a photo. It is the hole on top of the cover in the top left cover.
I think it is different from the hole Adrenalize mentioned.

Yeah like I said nothing goes in there, it might be used in other countries that have right hand drive or something, but it is not used on our cars.
