Resetting it will not help. You likely have an open in the wheel sensor circuit, due to a tugged wire. The abs has it's own diagnostics and code system. A scan will tell you exactly what the problem is.

The light is on for a reason, something is wrong with the system. Most likely due to your accident. Possibilities are: damaged wiring, pulser ring on the axle, or wheel speed sensor.

Even if you clear the code, unless you fix the problem it will come back on.

Spot on.
I Had the ABS light induced by my Right Rear wheel sensor showing an open. The cause was most likely an accidental tug on the cable (by me) when I was installing my new '04 diff with 4.57 gears.
My dealership ran the code (for free) and narrowed it down to the sensor mentioned above. Luckily, I had a spare sensor from a used JDM subframe and I just spliced it in. The light will go out once the computer sees the problem is resolved.
You can get a sensor from the dealer ($110), from the marketplace on this site, or you can get one from a junk yard and splice it in. There's nothing magical about the sensor itself ... two wires that you can solder together and seal with shrink tube. Check the resistance; it should be somewhere close to 1.4 ohms (~1.36-1.43)
