NSX caliper on S2000 ?
actually, I don't mind the weight reduce... I only care about the stopping power.... if it improves the stopping distance.. I am happy.. it is just $300... the only issue is will it fit perfectly and will it brake better..?
Derrick: If you want better stopping power and shorter distance go with a more aggressive pad on the OEM calipers. Then get yourself some wider/stickier tires(R-Compounds). As you can lock up the tires with the OEM pads only thing that will make you stop shorter is more rubber grip.
1. Some of the NSX Caliper will not work properly with the S2000 master cylinder. As mentioned above some may work well, but other model year calipers requires a greater volume of fluid to actuate the pistons. This will likely result in more pedal stroke for equivalent braking force. That's not even considering the issues of mounting brackets and matching the swept area of the rotor properly.
2. If you can lock up your wheels with the stock braking system, there is nothing you can do to improve stopping distance. On the street, the limitation on braking performance (at least in the S2000) is tires, not the braking system. Even if you're going to run on the track on tires with increased grip, brake pads with higher heat tolerance combined with high boiling point brake fluid are all you need. Chris, if you want a demonstration, I'm happy to oblige you either at Sebring in October, or Homestead in November
.
3. Some of the aftermarket braking systems designed for use in the S2000 will improve braking feel and make pad changes easier, but that's about it. As nicely engineered as some of the systems are, I have not yet seen a well documented study showing lap time improvements from aftermarket braking systems in the S2000.
Whatever you decide to do, be VERY CAREFUL when it comes to modifications of the most important system in our car - the brakes.
